Assessing CSR commitments: a structured approach
In March 2025, Erlab was assessed by Ecovadis, an independent organization specialized in analyzing corporate social responsibility (CSR) policies.
Result: a bronze medal and a score of 68/100, which is 21 points higher than the previous evaluation in 2024.
The purpose of this rating is not to rank companies, but to assess how structured they are around four major areas considered essential in any CSR approach:
Environment
This includes all actions implemented to reduce the company’s impact on natural resources: waste management, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, energy efficiency, pollution prevention, and climate policy.
Human and labor rights
This pillar concerns respect for fundamental labor principles: employee health and safety, equal treatment, fair working conditions, harassment prevention, union freedom, and respect for human rights throughout the value chain.
Ethics
This area evaluates practices related to business integrity: anti-corruption measures, data protection, confidentiality, fair competition, and ethical relations with stakeholders.
Responsible procurement
This means integrating environmental and social criteria into purchasing decisions and supplier management, ensuring sustainable, traceable, and respectful practices throughout the supply chain.
Criteria recognized internationally
Each area is analyzed according to criteria based on internationally recognized frameworks, such as:
- ISO 26000
- United Nations Global Compact
- International Labour Organization conventions – ILO
- GRI – Global Reporting Initiative
Progress based on concrete actions
The evaluation is based on the analysis of tangible documents provided by the company: internal policies, procedures, indicators, action plans, etc.
At Erlab, several initiatives contributed to this improvement:
- Formalization of policies on health, safety, environment, procurement, and human rights
- A carbon footprint report and an eco-flow audit
- Updating the single occupational risk assessment document
- Integration of CSR indicators into reporting tools
A medal, but above all a tool for progress
Today, 35% of companies assessed by Ecovadis receive a medal. It is neither a label nor a certification, but a continuous improvement tool that allows each organization to benchmark its commitments using a shared framework.
Behind this rating lies a simple question: how does a company concretely measure its environmental, social, and ethical commitments?
The Ecovadis assessment, in this sense, offers a structured framework based on recognized standards. The medal awarded is a milestone in a demanding, well-documented, and sustainable continuous improvement journey.
