To ensure the reliability and performance of all our technologies and products, Erlab significantly invests in a fully integrated research laboratory that managed by our Research and Development Director that holds a PhD in chemistry, physics and microbiology.
The only one of its kind in the world, this 3,000 square foot state-of-the-art laboratory includes over $1 million of specialized filtration and containment testing equipment:
  • Mass spectrophotometers
  • Gaseous phase chromatograph
  • Liquid phase chromatograph
  • Photo Iionization detectors
  • Bench Quality Test Control (ASTM standard)
  • Muffle furnace, lab oven, sieving machines, precision balance
The most stringent molecular filtration standard:  AFNOR NF X 15-211

Our lab ensures that we comply with the AFNOR NFX 15-211 standard. This standard was developed by a committee of independent scientists and manufacturers specializing in molecular filtration and safety. The standard establishes specific performance criteria for the quality of the filtered air that a fume hood operator must be able to breathe during their professional lifetime without encountering any health risks.
What does this mean for you?
You will never be exposed to harmful chemicals! During normal operation or during detection, the concentration at the filter exhaust will be lower than 1% of the TLV. If there is a spill, the concentration at the filter exhaust will be less than 50% of the TLV.

We state what our filters can do! You can’t comply with AFNOR NFX 15-211 without one. Our in-house lab tests the retention capacity of our filters and we publish a list stating the chemical name, the molecular weight, the grams our filter can retain and under what conditions, the filter type needed to retain the chemical, and the type of saturation detection you need. 
The guide includes almost 700 chemicals and lists the following for each:
  • Name of the chemical
  • Chemical formula
  • CAS number
  • Boiling point
  • Molecular mass
  • Saturation vapor pressure
  • The Erlab filter designed to trap this chemical
  • The retention capacity of the Erlab filter
  • The type of filter saturation detection system needed
  • The maximum mass of the chemical that may be introduced within the enclosure
